If you don't capture it, it never happened!
Our brains have evolved to be highly efficient with memories, but not accurate. We store important parts of events, things we might need or things that stand out. Everything that’s not important quickly fades from memory, and even the most important memories eventually fade with time or worse, they become less and less accurate.
Except for a very very rare group of individuals that have hyperthymesia, an ability that allows people to remember nearly every event of their life with great precision, also refered to as highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM), the rest of us are stuck with our highly efficient memories, destined to forget or remember less and less accurately, our most cherished moments in life.
Besides yearning to recall and relive our best moments, we also seek to share those moments with others, especially our loved ones. We want them to experience what it was like to be there in that moment and perhaps relive the moment again and again with us.
Words through stories is a powerful tool for recreating those moments, but not anywhere near as powerful as pictures, equivalent to a thousand words a piece - frozen moments in time.
Capturing those moments in a manner that imbues essence into the pictures, requires a remarkable ability to be present and a passion for the art. This is why I hope you'll entrust me with the honour of capturing your moments, which I will treat with the utmost reverence. If you don't capture it, it never happened!
